i appoints Sophie Lam as new travel editor

Oliver Duff: "With Sophie's pedigree and contacts in the sector, and her great affinity for i and our readers, she's ideally placed to develop our coverage and partnerships."

Designed to further strengthen i's editorial team, Sophie will be responsible for enhancing travel coverage in print and on iNews.co.uk, while driving forward the development of commercial partnerships across i's platforms.

Sophie brings a wealth of experience from her role at ESI Media, where she oversaw the travel sections for the group's titles - The Independent, The Independent on Sunday, i and The London Evening Standard - for 13 years, the publisher says. The Independent's Traveller Magazine was twice named National Broadsheet Travel Section of the Year. Sophie also played an integral role in launching and co-hosting the inaugural Independent Travel Awards.

Oliver Duff, Editor of i and iNews.co.uk, said: "Travel is a priority area of our coverage for readers, and we know that commercial partners are interested in collaborating on new opportunities.
