Martha Lane Fox to give Stationers’ Company Annual Lecture

The Government’s digital champion, Martha Lane Fox, will deliver the 2011 Stationers’ Company Annual Lecture on Tuesday, 15 March.

According to a statement from the The Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers: “Martha’s whole career has been defined by the Internet having founded Lastminute.com in 1998. When the business floated in 2000 it was the high-water mark of the ‘dot com boom’.

Super-fast broadband is critical to the success of the Communications Industry but we need someone of Martha’s persuasiveness to get Government to focus on the need for investment in infrastructure at a time of austerity. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear what’s been done so far and to get one’s views across to someone who has the ear of Government. It should not be missed!

The Lecture is held in the historic surroundings of Stationers’ Hall, close to St Paul’s Cathedral. It starts at 6.00 pm and is followed by an optional dinner in the Stationers’ wonderful Court Room. Tickets, which are available to non-members of the Company and their guests, can be purchased from: Helen Ashworth, Events Manager on events@stationers.org Tel: 020 7246 0988, or click here to purchase online.

Martha’s lecture follows in a line of distinguished lecturers at Stationers’ Hall, including Helen Alexander, Sir Martin Sorrell, Mark Thompson and Rupert Murdoch. The event is usually a sell-out so readers are advised to book tickets as soon as possible.”
