The new 132-page monthly magazine will go on sale on the 29th October, priced at £4.75.
Aimed firmly at the growing road cycling market, Bikes Etc will focus on testing and reviewing the very latest bikes and kit, with expert reviews and advice on performance and maintenance. It sits alongside sister title Cyclist, offering a more technical and consumer purchase-based proposition covering all price points, while maintaining the same attention to quality and design, say the publishers. The new launch will allow Dennis Publishing to offer advertisers the chance to cover the whole road cycling genre. A reviews-based website to complement the magazine is also planned for Spring 2015.
Pete Muir, Editor of Cyclist has recruited an expert editorial team and will himself take on the role of Editorial Director for Bikes Etc, while Wes Doyle, ex Healthy for Men and Men’s Health takes the helm as Editor, and Andy Waterman, ex Privateer, IPC cycling and Future takes the role of Deputy Editor.
Doyle says of the new title, “After the incredible success of Cyclist we realised there was still a gap in the market for a good looking magazine that catered to readers that are serious about their sport, and looking for an authoritative voice to help them to get their purchasing decisions right first time. With our combined expertise we can provide that.”
Nicola Bates, Publisher, says: “A passion for bikes and kit is fundamentally at the heart of the UK’s cycling boom, and road cyclists are in a perpetual state of purchasing and dreaming about what they might buy next to improve their rides. Bikes Etc gives us an opportunity to tap into a market that is thriving at the moment. Our ambition is to quickly establish Bikes Etc in the hearts and minds of our customers as their go-to brand for reviews. The quality of the magazine speaks volumes, and I’m confident it will appeal to road cyclists both new and old. ”
