Phil Alexander bonoured by Music Industry

Editor-in-Chief of MOJO Phil Alexander was last night honoured by the music industry at the Record of the Day Awards for Music Journalism, a ceremony that recognises success in the fields of Music Journalism, Photography and Public Relations within the UK music industry.

Phil (pictured) was given the Outstanding Contribution to Music Journalism award.

He began his career at the age of 15, when he started writing for a French magazine called Enfer ("Hell"). Since then he has edited Raw, Kerrang! and Q magazine; hosted the Friday night rock trivia show Popped In, Crashed Out for ITV; regularly appeared on Radio 1's The Rock Show; helped launch Kerrang! Radio and kerrang.com, and co-produced Ozzy Osborne: In My Life for ITV.

Since his appointment as Editor in Chief of Mojo in 2003, Phil has overseen the launch of the MOJO Honours’ List, MOJO Radio, the monthly MOJO Club nights and the compilation CDs ‘An introduction to’ - a set of MOJO-branded, artist specific collections in conjunction with Sony Music.

Paul Scaife, founder and managing director of Record of the Day says, “The main aim of the Record of the Day Awards is simple: to celebrate great music writers, great photographers, great music magazines, and also give a deserved pat on the back to the music PR’s and label staff that we journalists rely on day-in-day-out.”

Phil commented: “Over the last few years I have had the pleasure of working with some of the best editorial teams in the business, particularly on MOJO and Kerrang!. While I’m grateful to get this, this award is a reflection of their achievements as much as mine.”
