On 6th August they launch a new puzzle-based education magazine aimed at KS2 level (7-11 year old) children. Puzzle Club is a 64-page magazine that supports learning in the core subjects of the National Curriculum, especially English, Mathematics and Science. It has been developed in conjunction with the world’s leading learning company, Pearson.
The launch comes as recent research report, ‘Puzzles in Education’, commissioned by Puzzler Media and compiled by the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge, shows that using puzzles in addition to standard teaching materials, can improve student learning.
Mark Whiteway, Publishing Manager at Puzzler Media, said: ‘Puzzle Club, our latest magazine, builds on the findings of this research report, and on years of feedback from our readers, confirming that puzzles both encourage and help them to learn.
‘Puzzle Club offers children at KS2 level a wide variety of relevant, challenging, engaging and fun puzzles. Every puzzle has been designed to practise and improve key skills, such as problem-solving and writing fluency, or to impart and reinforce critical information and vocabulary from the National Curriculum.
‘This magazine is the first of its kind and we’re confident in its ability to help children to enjoy learning in a non-pressurised environment.’
Puzzle Club will be available at £3.99 from WHSmith, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Asda and various newsagents.
On the same date, Puzzler Media are launching Suguru magazine.
Suguru is a brand new, Japanese number puzzle with even simpler rules than Sudoku, but offering a pure logic challenge.
Mark Whiteway, Publishing Manager at Puzzler Media, said: ‘We are incredibly excited to be able to introduce such a fantastic new puzzle to the UK market, particularly as it coincides with the UK hosting the World Sudoku Championships this year. We truly believe that Suguru will be the next generation for number puzzles and will become just as popular and addictive as Sudoku.’
Suguru goes on sale on 6th August at the introductory price of £1 and will be available in Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, WHSmith and various newsagents.
