Telegraph appoints an Olympics Editor

Jacquelin Magnay will coordinate the Telegraph’s Olympic coverage across all platforms, The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph and Telegraph.co.uk

In this role she will lead and manage the growing Olympics editorial team, as well as providing expert insight and analysis on the latest Olympic developments.

Jacquelin Magnay joins from the Sydney Morning Herald where she was Chief Olympics Correspondent. She has reported on seven Olympic Games and has won a host of awards including the prestigious George Munster award for investigative journalism in 2008. In 2004 she won a Walkley award for excellence in Australian journalism, and was a Walkley finalist in 2007 and 2008. She was also highly commended in the 2003 Walkley awards.

Jacquelin has won Australian Sports Commission awards for best sporting issues and best sporting profiles.

David Bond, Sports Editor, The Daily Telegraph, said: “This is a fantastic appointment for TMG. Jacquelin has covered the Olympic movement for the best part of the last two decades with distinction and reported on some of the biggest stories in sport. We are privileged to have someone with her expertise - one of Australia’s most decorated journalists – joining our team.

“Jacquelin's first task will be to build on telegraph.co.uk's brilliant online coverage by developing a world class London 2012 channel and to start co-ordinating London 2012 coverage across the whole telegraph newsroom. She will also cover the Vancouver winter Olympics.”
