The Predictor uses the wealth of statistics and data that powers Autosport.com today to predict the outcome of each round of the 2011 Formula 1 World Championship more accurately than ever before.
The Predictor has selected Alonso as the Australian Grand Prix winner based on his pre-season testing pace and past form at the Melbourne circuit.
Despite Sebastian Vettel shading Alonso in testing, the world champion has a poor record down under, leading to the Predictor picking a second-place finish for him ahead of Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) and his Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber.
Motorsport fans from around the globe are being invited to beat the Predictor at its own game, with the chance of winning great prizes including a trip to this year’s Canadian Grand Prix.
They will also compete against an expert panel of pundits, including former grand prix winner Johnny Herbert.
“This is a landmark development for Autosport.com,” said Autosport’s publisher Rob Aherne.
“It has been a magnificent team effort and everybody involved should be hugely proud of what they’ve achieved.”
