Conde Nast College announces key appointments

The Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design has appointed a Vice Principal and a Senior Lecturer (E-Learning).

Both of these key appointments have already joined the Faculty, reporting to the Principal Susie Forbes.

Dr Gary Pritchard (pictured) takes the role of Vice Principal of the Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design. With over ten years experience in arts education leadership, in dean positions at both Newport School of Art & Design and the University of Wales based at Cardiff, Gary’s career began in television and print media as a writer, journalist, scriptwriter and filmmaker. With teaching expertise across a range of subject areas including fashion and various media communication technologies, doctoral research has resulted in Gary being recognised as a leading British expert in talent development amongst students, ensuring individuals reach their maximum potential.

Kate Cheal is named Senior Lecturer (E-Learning) of the Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design. A Google Certified Teacher, Kate is constantly searching for innovative ways to use online tools to facilitate “anywhere, anytime” learning, with the aim to create a culture of collaborative, connected education. Kate has led the development of an Apple Regional Training Centre, specialising in the use of mobile technologies to support all areas of learning, and is masterminding the design of a cutting edge curriculum for the College that has social media at its heart.

Susie Forbes, Principal of the Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design, comments “The quality of our student experiences are of paramount importance. The significant expertise which Dr Gary Pritchard, our Vice Principal, will bring to the College, together with Senior Lecturer Kate Cheal, will ensure these experiences meet the highest of standards. We’re putting cutting-edge, student-centred learning at the heart of our courses, and in order to ensure our students derive maximum benefit from the unique insight they’ll receive into the fashion industry, the College is adopting a personalised and highly flexible approach to student learning, which Gary and Kate will be directing.”

“It’s a real privilege to be joining Condé Nast at the launch point of this amazing venture. The intention to marry the highest scholarly ambition with the world-class fashion and design credentials of the organization is one of the reasons I am so excited to come on board,” adds Gary Pritchard.

Further appointments, including that of Course Director for the Vogue courses, will be announced shortly. Opening in January 2013, the first fee-paying course available for students at the Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design will be the ten-week Vogue Fashion Certificate, followed by the year-long Vogue Fashion Foundation Diploma which will begin in October 2013. These strongly vocational courses will establish the College as an important launch pad for those with ambitions to be the industry stars of tomorrow.
