FT launches customisable API

The Financial Times is introducing the FT Headline API, a customisable application programming interface (API) for its corporate, government and education customers.

The Headline API enables information professionals to create lists of relevant FT headlines and integrate these into their intranet, CRM system or whichever technology platform they use, providing more convenient access to FT information. Headlines will be updated as soon as new stories are published and users click through to FT.com to read the full article.

FT B2B managing director Caspar de Bono said: “The FT Headline API is one of many investments we’re making in our API offering, which helps customers integrate FT news into the applications most useful to them. The tool enables users to define what makes an article relevant, provides advanced filtering for what content appears and the ability to change the feed in real time."

The FT is also introducing a new single sign on process that means corporate and education customers will be able to access FT.com using their network IDs rather than separate credentials.
