Archant appoints new board director

Community media company Archant has appointed David Hill to its main Board as a non-executive director with effect from 1 June, 2013.

David (pictured), who has been Executive Chairman of Jarrold & Sons Ltd since 2002, grew up in Norfolk. He trained as a solicitor and worked in the banking department of City law firm Norton Rose, before setting up an investment banking business, advising European institutions and banks on cross border financing structures, and where he remains a non-executive director.

Commenting on his appointment, David said: “I am delighted to be joining Archant, a company I’ve admired for many years, particularly at this time of great change in the regional media. I look forward to getting to know the business better over the next few months.”

Richard Jewson, Chairman of Archant said: “David brings a wealth of knowledge about many of the communities we serve. We are very pleased that he will be joining the board and we greatly look forward to benefiting from his insight and experience.”

David is a Governor of the 2nd Air Division Memorial Library and a Trustee of the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association. He was formerly Deputy Chair of the University of East Anglia Council, Chair of Norwich HEART, Chair of the Norwich Playhouse and has had a number of roles in other voluntary organisations in Norfolk.
