Dennis acquires Computer Active

Dennis Publishing has announced the acquisition of Computer Active.

Launched in 1998, Computer Active is a fortnightly mass market consumer magazine appealing to home computer users, covering software and the internet with news, reviews and step-by-step projects. With an audited circulation of 118,188 (Jan-Dec 2011) and a dedicated subscriber base of 79,128, Computer Active will be the most recent acquisition by Dennis’s Technology & Imaging division since the acquisition of Web User in 2010.

Adding to its successful technology division which boasts titles such as Web User, Computer Shopper, PC Pro, expertreviews.co.uk and knowyourmobile.com, this move will see Dennis continue to take ownership of the mainstream computer market for both monthly and fortnightly magazines, says Dennis.

James Tye (pictured), CEO said: “Dennis Publishing is in the business of producing great content, with a focus on delivering what readers want, in the right format and at the right time. We acquire brands with a view to invest and improve them, which is exactly what we plan to do with Computer Active.”

John Garewal, MD of Dennis Technology & Imaging will take on publishing duties for Computer Active, with immediate effect.

Garewal said: “Computer Active is a fantastic magazine that we have admired for many years, which makes this is a particularly exciting move for us. Consumer technology is a sector that we truly own at Dennis – and the addition of Computer Active to our already strong portfolio will allow us to increase the scale and opportunity for our advertisers, subscribers and readers alike.”

The deal with Incisive Media will see Dennis Publishing acquire the brand with no interruption to the publishing schedule, with the first issue under the Dennis umbrella hitting the shelves on 7th February.
