Egmont appoints Stephanie Gauld as Digital Publisher

Leading specialist children’s publisher Egmont UK has appointed Stephanie Gauld, former Head of Disney Online Studios, to the new role of Digital Publisher.

Gauld (pictured) will lead Egmont’s digital team in the UK and work across Egmont’s three books and magazines divisions. She will report to the head of the UK business Rob McMenemy, Senior VP, Egmont English Language & Central Europe.

As the former Head of Disney Online Studios Gauld built the team responsible for Disney's virtual worlds across EMEA, and led the launch in Europe for Club Penguin. Before that she developed the digital online and interactive TV content strategy to support the launch of CBeebies.

Rob McMenemy said: “We have an incredible opportunity to inspire children and teenagers to read in new ways with Stephanie’s unique insight into world class children’s digital content businesses. I believe that by combining her outstanding credentials with our editorial expertise and the work of our new Consumer Insight Director we will have an invaluable picture of our consumers’ lives and develop great reading experiences for them.”

Stephanie Gauld said: “It’s an exciting time for children’s publishers. Egmont is uniquely positioned to grow as a multi-platform organisation, having an established fiction book business as well as magazine and licensed character businesses. The team’s keenness to take risks, bring a rich wealth of stories to life in relevant ways to the audience and rapidly build knowledge in the digital space is impressive. I’m looking forward to helping Egmont create market-leading, cross-platform products for children.”

Gauld will begin her role at Egmont UK immediately.
