Golf Monthly makes editorial appointments

Golf Monthly has announced two senior promotions as part of a restructure aimed at taking advantage of what the publisher describes as an explosion in demand for its digital content and building on its strong newsstand performance.

Current deputy editor Neil Tappin is appointed digital editor and will oversee the development and distribution of Golf Monthly’s digital content through its portfolio of channels.

Golf Monthly editor Mike Harris says: “Over the past year, Golf Monthly has delivered excellent growth via all its digital channels including its brand website, interactive tablet edition, YouTube channel and social media profiles. Neil has been right at the heart of that growth, driving innovation and producing superb content – most notably in video where he has produced two tuition-based apps that attracted significant sponsorship revenue from key clients and have already achieved over 40,000 downloads. 2013 will bring us more opportunities for growth and Neil is the perfect person to ensure we capitalise on them.”

Current assistant editor Alex Narey is promoted to managing editor with the responsibility for driving innovation of the print product and maintaining the brand’s efficient workflow and use of resources.

Commenting on the promotion, Mike says: “Alex is bursting with brilliant creative ideas and has played a major role in taking our print content to a new level in 2012. Added to that, his razor sharp grip on workflow has allowed us to work more efficiently than ever before, freeing up time for the team to produce great digital content without the need for additional resources.”

Neil and Alex take up their new positions with immediate effect.
