Carr joins from BBC Worldwide, where he has held a range of roles since joining the corporation in the UK in the 1990’s. Since 1998, he has been based in the US where he has overseen the operational and financial growth of BBC America. Carr qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG, and is a member of the Institute of the Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, say the publishers.
Carr takes up his role at GNM as its US operations continue to build momentum. Revenue for financial year ending March 2015 was up over 170 percent year-on-year, and US readership has grown by over 35% in the last 12 months, now standing at 28.3 million unique monthly users and accounting for over a third of the Guardian’s entire global audience. GNM also recently confirmed that it would open a West Coast Bureau later in the fall, increasing technology, entertainment and news reporting, as it continues to deepen its focus on, and investment in, America.

Carr will be based in the Guardian’s New York office and takes up his role immediately. He will report to Eamonn Store, CEO, Guardian North America.
