The Guardian yesterday announced the launch of extra accounts, it says a new much requested feature that enables paid supporters to share their full suite of benefits with up to three people.
Available to supporters with Digital plus and print packages, this new feature creates a shared experience among readers and encourages meaningful engagement across households and social circles, the publisher continued.
Digital plus is the Guardian’s premium digital subscription, designed to deliver the most comprehensive digital Guardian experience yet.
The launch builds on continued growth in reader support for the Guardian. The Guardian’s latest financial results show that over the last year, the number of digital recurring Guardian supporters increased by more than 116,000 to 1.4m, with growth recorded in all global markets.
Through making account access easily shareable with loved ones, the new feature aims to foster connection and build community through the Guardian's independent journalism.
The publisher says extra account users will benefit from:
- Full supporter benefits: extra account users gain access to ad-free reading across all devices, including full access to the Guardian News, Guardian Feast and Guardian Editions apps, the digital archive, and an exclusive supporter newsletter.
- Individual logins: every invited member receives their own separate Guardian account and login credentials, keeping their reading experiences personalised to them.
Extra accounts can also be accessed by readers who have a Guardian Weekly plus digital or a Newspaper subscription, the publisher continued.
Liz Wynn, chief supporter officer, said: “We’re delighted that we are now offering supporters even more value with extra accounts. The Guardian’s award-winning journalism is made to be shared, and this new feature will make it easier for more people to make the Guardian part of their daily lives and engage deeply with our stories in new and immersive ways.”
