Guardian appoints director of consumer revenues

Guardian News & Media (GNM) has announced the appointment of Julia Porter to the role of director of consumer revenues.

Currently operating in this role on an interim basis, Julia (pictured) will take up the position permanently from 8 January 2013.

Reporting to chief commercial officer, David Pemsel, Julia will work across the commercial department, focusing on the development and expansion of subscriptions and brand extension opportunities, such as the Guardian's Masterclasses and the recently launched Guardian Collection.

David Pemsel, chief commercial officer, Guardian News & Media, said: "From Julia's time working at IPC Media, Getty Images and ITV, she brings the perfect blend of media, digital and direct marketing experience to GNM. This is a strategically important role in our efforts to develop new revenue streams and I am delighted that Julia will be joining us on a permanent basis to help expand the business."

Julia Porter said: "This is an exciting and innovative time for the media industry which makes this opportunity to join the Guardian all the more interesting. The Guardian and Observer have a loyal and committed readership both on and offline and there are many opportunities to cement and extend that relationship further."

During over five years at ITV, as commercial marketing director, Julia launched a global rebrand of ITV Studios, launched the ITV Upfronts show, planned and launched website portals for ITV Media and ITV Studios and created a centralised events team which produced more than 140 branded events.
