H Bauer launches arrowwords app

H Bauer has launched what it says is the world’s first arrowwords magazine app.

H Bauer says: Our finest quality Arrowwords are now available in a fully-interactive Mini format which is ideally suited to the iPad screen-size.

This iPad edition features:

• Our unique ‘Floating Keyboard’, the best way yet devised to enter the answers into a puzzle grid

• Over 60 Arrowword puzzles and their variants, including Picture Pointers, Picture Play and Star Turns

• A chance to win £250 in every issue, open to UK and Eire residents only (issue 2 onwards)

• The best quality English language Arrowwords available via a magazine app, featuring common English words, with a sprinkling of general knowledge

Publisher Spike Figgett comments: “As publishers of the best-selling English language print magazine dedicated to this crossword-style puzzle we’re delighted to be able offer the same high-quality content to puzzlers around the world. With our developer partners, Dilemma Puzzles, we’ve also brought the first truly integrated paper and magazine app puzzle title to the market both here in the UK and, to the best of our knowledge, anywhere else.

The magazine was designed as a print and app product from the outset and we chose the Mini A5 format as a dps would fit the iPad’s screen-size with only a minimal reduction. In fact, the two versions differ only in their prize entry mechanisms and in that the app has no solution pages as the answers are revealed as the puzzles are solved. The magazine app also features a unique ‘Floating Keyboard’ solution to entering text into the puzzles. This can be positioned to best suit the user and does not obscure the puzzle in the same way as happens in apps that rely on the inbuilt iPad keyboard.”
