Harper’s Bazaar appoints Sasha Slater

Harper’s Bazaar, the luxury fashion magazine published by Hearst Magazines UK, has appointed one of the country’s most respected editors, Sasha Slater, as Deputy Editor.

Sasha, who joins Bazaar on March 11, is a highly experienced editor and journalist, having worked across a number of UK lifestyle/fashion magazines and national newspapers. She is currently deputy editor of Easy Living, a contributor to The Times and Editor of Pomp magazine – a luxury bi-monthly for foreign visitors to the capital.

Previously, Sasha worked as Deputy Editor of The Times Magazine, as Editor of ES Magazine at the Evening Standard and as a section editor of the Daily Mail and the Independent on Sunday.

As Deputy Editor of Harper’s Bazaar, Sasha will support Editor-In-Chief, Justine Picardie, in all aspects of editorial creation and production at the title.

Sasha replaces former Harper’s Bazaar Deputy Editor Sarah Bailey, who was recently appointed to the role of Editor-In-Chief at Hearst Magazine’s UK-owned title Red.

Sasha is among a number of new high profile appointments at Harper’s Bazaar made since Justine was appointed Editor-in-chief in August 2012. Other appointments include award-winning Creative Director, Marissa Bourke; Associate Editor, Sara Parker-Bowles; Fashion Features Director, Avril Mair; Senior Editor, Hannah Rothschild and Global Fashion Director, Carine Roitfeld, whose first story ran in the March 2013 issue, on sale now.

Harper’s Bazaar Editor-in-chief, Justine Picardie, says: “Sasha brings a wealth of editing experience and contacts to Harper’s Bazaar as well as a deep understanding of the intricate workings of a fashion media brand. I am delighted that she has joined Harper’s Bazaar at such an important and exciting time for the brand.”

Amanda Turnbull, Group Publishing Director, Harper’s Bazaar, says: “Sasha is a fantastic addition to the highly skilled Harper’s Bazaar editorial team, who are working hard to realise Justine’s commitment to showcase the best of the brand’s heritage through intelligent fashion, wondrous design and thoughtful features.”
