Imagine launches Real Crime magazine

As a nation of crime watchers, Britain's enthusiasm for real-life lawbreakers gets a further boost with the arrival of a new magazine – Real Crime – launched by Imagine Publishing.

Delivered with the same icy intensity and forensic detail of popular documentaries and TV shows, Real Crime uncovers blow-by-blow accounts of how notorious criminals have been brought to justice. The latest newsstand addition comes on the back of a growing list of TV programmes taking UK audiences by storm, such as HBO's The Jinx and Tales of the Grim Sleeper, BBC One's Crimewatch and The Met: Policing London, and BBC Four's Catching History's Criminals: The Forensics Story, say the publishers.

Today, UK audiences spend almost 4 hours a week watching television. 'Crime watching' programmes are drawing in many of these viewers, with women aged 25-34 being the biggest fans of the genre. Crimewatch alone, which celebrates its 31st birthday this year, notches up between four to five million viewers each month.

Imagine has introduced the high quality true crime magazine to its growing portfolio of titles. Every issue will be packed with ground-breaking interviews, original research and the incriminating pictures behind the world's most infamous cases. With breath-taking accounts from investigators, survivors and the criminal masterminds themselves, the magazine opens up the world of serial killers; ruthless mob bosses; organised crime; unsolved cases and beyond.

The first edition takes readers on a fascinating journey into the minds of some of the most notorious serial killers, including Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, and Fred and Rose West. It also includes a special interview with the woman who shot footage of the O.J. Simpson car chase, on the 20th anniversary of the contentious trial.

James Hoare, editor-in-chief at Real Crime, said, "We are always looking for new ways to meet our readers' need for intelligent, trusted reporting and opinion. With a growing appetite for real crime stories, it made sense for us to respond with the launch of Real Crime, providing quality content for crime-curious readers who want to know more about some of the most hard-hitting real-life stories in modern history. Real Crime is a great addition to Imagine Publishing's portfolio and we are excited to see the first issue hit the newsstands this month."

Priced at £3.99, Real Crime will be on shelves 23rd July.
