Immediate Media appoints digital product leader from Silicon Valley

Tony Macklin has been appointed Director of Product Development and Strategy at Immediate Media Company, the business announced yesterday.

Macklin (pictured) has spent over 20 years in a range of senior Product and Marketing roles, focusing on building both new and established digital businesses. Since 2009, he has been VP Product within the leading family history subscription site, Ancestry.com, based in San Francisco.

Prior to Ancestry.com, he held roles in Brand Management at Proctor & Gamble, and Product Management at Intuit (the US leader in personal finance software). He launched Moneyextra.com, a pioneering UK online personal finance business, and served on the Senior UK Exec teams of Ebay and Ask.com.

Reporting to CEO Tom Bureau, Macklin will now be responsible for the on-going development of Immediate Media Co’s leading digital platforms, building out the product and development teams, and working with the senior management team on cross media brand strategy.

Immediate Media Co CEO, Tom Bureau, said: “I am delighted to have convinced Tony to join us. His exceptional digital product experience in both the UK and especially in Silicon Valley will be a great asset for us as we build our cross media business.

“This is a very exciting time for our company as we continue to invest in the business. Tony will help us to deliver on our large scale digital ambition.”

Tony Macklin said: "I'm thrilled to be joining Immediate Media Company at a very exciting time. It’s a content business with a unique opportunity to innovate and grow digital revenue from its existing online product range, and in the many markets in which the magazine business is strong."

Macklin started with Immediate Media Co yesterday, Monday 23 July 2012.
