Jack Blanchard Appointed Chairman of the Newspaper Conference

Jack Blanchard, Yorkshire Post political editor, has been appointed chairman of the Newspaper Conference which represents London editors and political correspondents of NS member regional newspapers.

As reported by the Newspaper Society: Jack took up the role at the Conference’s AGM on Tuesday which followed a lunch with Cities and the Constitution Minister Greg Clark.

Jack replaces Jon Walker, Trinity Mirror West Midlands and North East political editor, who was appointed vice chairman.

Jack has been at the Yorkshire Post since October 2009, and in the lobby since February 2012. Prior to that, he was political editor of the Worcester News.

Jack said: “The Newspaper Conference performs an invaluable role in scrutinising the actions of Westminster politicians and holding them to account on behalf of communities across the UK."

"Jon has done an excellent job during his time as chairman and I am looking forward to continuing his work over the coming year."

The AGM also saw Annabelle Dickson, Archant Anglia political editor, appointed deputy chairman.
