This will be available globally through both Nexis and the new NexisDirect service.
RTÉ will provide LexisNexis with access to web content covering major news stories and comment from across Ireland. This agreement further strengthens the LexisNexis’ database content and coverage of Ireland. The current service includes Irish content delivered by a number of local news titles licensed last year from Johnston Press.
Bob De Laney (pictured), News & Business Director at LexisNexis, comments: “This new content provides our Nexis and NexisDirect customers with extra insight from across Ireland. Whether used for business development, competitor tracking or for monitoring media coverage, this intelligence helps our customers better understand trends in the Irish market, enabling them to make better business decisions.”
RTÉ is Ireland’s national Television and Radio broadcaster. RTÉ.ie has over 2.5 million unique users per month and the website provides coverage of up-to-the-minute news, sport, business and entertainment information in text, audio and video formats, seven days a week. Audiences can keep up-to-date with all that is going on in Ireland at any given time through rte.ie, and can also access a range of lifestyle content in the Food, Fashion and Travel sections. Last year, RTÉ Player was launched on rte.ie giving users the opportunity to catch-up on their favourite TV programmes from RTÉ Television. People can also listen live to RTÉ Radio and access past programmes through www.rte.ie/radio. RTÉ News Now, RTÉ’s 24-hour live and looped News channel, is available on rte.ie.
Aisling McCabe, Director of Platform Development, RTÉ Publishing, commented on the agreement with LexisNexis: “RTÉ is delighted to partner with LexisNexis to provide our news and comment to business users worldwide.”
RTÉ’s coverage is provided in addition to a wide range of Irish titles, including the following local newspapers added from Johnston Press in 2009: Donegal Democrat, Donegal on Sunday, Dundalk Democrat, Kilkenny People, Leinster Express, Leinster Leader, Leitrim Observer, Limerick Leader, Longford Leader, Nationalist and Munster Advertiser.
