London24 launches hot startups initiative

London24, the London-centric newsmedia brand owned by Archant, has launched a new initiative in conjunction with Tech Pitch 4.5, to discover and profile tech startups whose products or services aim to simplify aspects of London life for people who live or work in the capital.

The new editorial feature will appear on London24.com, which, says Archant, is read by an audience of more than 750,000 readers each month, and also within Archant London’s 14 local London newspapers.

Backing the new column is TechPitch 4.5, a pitch event for startups and investors created by 2Pears.

Archant London digital director, Paul Hood, said: “London has one of the most vibrant startup scenes of any city in the world. Many of these startups are focused on finding ways to solve some of the challenges faced by London residents and workers, helping them to save time or money.

“But these startups often don’t have the marketing budgets to gain tipping point traction for their service or product. Our new column ‘Hot London Startups’ will connect relevant tech startups with a large audience of Londoners, fixing a problem for both our readers and the startups in one fell swoop.

“We needed a partner who knows London’s tech startup scene and who is trusted and respected; in our initial exploration, 2Pears and TechPitch 4.5 were names that we kept hearing again and again. We are delighted to have them help us introduce our new proposition to London startups,” said Paul

Petra Johansson, co-founder of 2Pears, said: “We are very excited about the column in London24. It will act as a platform for some of the relevant startups in our network to connect with the London consumer audience. Gaining consumer traction rapidly for a startup can be the difference between making it or breaking it, so this is a fantastic opportunity for our network.”
