Mark is to succeed Alison Gow later this month when Alison moves to the role of Editor, Digital Innovations and Deputy Digital Publishing Director for Trinity Mirror regionals.
Mark’s appointment comes after a long and distinguished career which began with the Wirral News Group and took in spells as Press Association North of England correspondent, Echo Investigations editor, and editor of the Liverpool Post.
Mark has also published a book on the James Bulger murder case and is acknowledged as an expert on the subject.
