Metro launches phone and tablet Christmas Editions

Yesterday, Metro announced the launch of its first ever Christmas edition available via tablets and smartphones for both new and existing readers.

With tablets and smartphones predicted to be among the biggest sellers this Christmas, Metro’s latest additional content offering will ensure that more urbanites than ever before are able to access its compelling, interactive content, say the publishers.

Six fully-packed editions will run daily from Christmas Day to January 1st 2013. Consumers can download via iTunes and Google Play, whilst existing readers will receive automatic downloads on their devices. Each issue will take a reflective look at some of this year’s biggest news stories looking back at 2012 in two-month sections per edition.

The Christmas issues will feature the biggest stories of the year in news, along with festive Guilty Pleasures and reader favourite, Metro’s ‘Window on the World’ photo gallery. Regular features such as 60 minutes, Life & Style and Sudoku will also be included.

Metro’s columnists will be sharing their highlights of the past year, including Colin Murray on the sporting highlights and Laurshka Vian-Zadeh reflecting on the best and worst films of 2012.

In addition, Metro is running a 100-question quiz over the six editions by which families can test their knowledge of 2012.

Linda Grant (pictured), Managing Director at Metro said: “Delivering a high quality, engaging experience to all Urbanites no matter where they are this Christmas is our priority; so we’re delighted to announce our first ever Christmas editions across our Phone and award winning Tablet platforms.”

“We know tablet and smartphone penetration is high amongst our audience and we know that over the Christmas break our audiences’ consumption habits differ and we need to accommodate for this. We’re already seeing our digital editions attract high engagement levels across the afternoon and evenings and think this success will be further replicated across the holiday season,” Grant added.
