New Advertising Association President appointed

Andy Duncan, Managing Director of Camelot UK Lotteries, has been announced as the new President of the Advertising Association.

Duncan will succeed Gavin Patterson, CEO BT Group, who steps down from the role on 30th January 2014. Previous AA Presidents include Penny Hughes CBE, Niall Fitzgerald KBE and Sir George J Bull.

Andy will work alongside AA Chairman Cilla Snowball CBE and AA Chief Executive Tim Lefroy.

Gavin Patterson said: “It is critical to anyone with a stake in advertising that our case is well-evidenced and made with real conviction. Only the AA can align all of advertising behind that goal. I am very proud to have been part of it.”

AA Chairman Cilla Snowball CBE commented: “Gavin has overseen a step-change in the AA’s reach and influence. It’s a tough act to follow but in Andy, we have found a fantastic successor.”

Commenting on his new role, Andy said: “It has never been more important for advertising to show how it adds value to the economy, to society and to people’s lives. In this role I want to see it continue to rise up the political and business agenda.”

Both Gavin Patterson and Andy Duncan will speak at LEAD 2014 – a leadership summit for advertising on 30 January 2014.
