New e-book: The Path Forward For The News Business

Forbes has announced the release of its second e-book by Forbes Media Chief Product Officer Lewis D’Vorkin, titled “The Path Forward For The News Business.”

The new e-book, produced and distributed by Vook, tackles the single issue faced by traditional media companies and news startups alike: how to build a sustainable model for journalism as technology disrupts both the news and advertising industries.

“News is, indeed, a business, and we must find innovative ways to engage with audiences and marketing partners alike,” said Mr D’Vorkin. “My second e-book is focused on how Forbes over the last three years has charted its own course, learning from successes and failures alike, and how it is changing the culture of publishing.”

The e-book is a collection of Mr D’Vorkin’s posts over the last 14 months, as edited by Coates Bateman and Miguel Morales, who serve on the Forbes editorial team. It is now available for purchase for $2.99 through Amazon, Apple’s iBookstore, Vook’s store, Kobo, Sony, Google, and coming soon to BarnesandNoble.com and Blio.

“Drawing on the deep knowledge, insights and expertise of Forbes’ staff writers and contributors, we plan to launch at least one e-book per month next year,” said Forbes Media Chief Operating Officer Mike Federle. “An e-book by staff writer Kashmir Hill about Bitcoins is already in development.”

“We couldn’t be happier to help Forbes produce the highest quality books. They’ve always set a high bar for forward thinking with their Web presence and are demonstrating that innovation again with their approach to ePublishing,” said Matthew Cavnar, VP Business Development of Vook.

“The Path Forward For The News Business” follows Mr D’Vorkin’s first e-book published in June 2012, “The Forbes Model for Journalism in the Digital Era.”
