Newsquest Media Group and Johnston Press PLC have announced a partnership to work together within the dating market using the Newsquest-owned Two’s Company brand.

Newsquest will be providing its multiplatform online, phone, text and app based dating service for use with Johnston’s 225 print and digital news brands. As a result of the agreement, by the end of the year Two’s Company will be featured in a total 397 of the UK’s leading print and online regional and local news brands.

The Johnston Press portfolio includes such daily titles as The Portsmouth News, Sheffield Star, Lancashire Evening Post, The Sunderland Echo, Yorkshire Post (Leeds), The Scotsman and the Edinburgh Evening News.

These titles have joined the Two’s Company dating family alongside such Newsquest titles as The Herald (Glasgow), The Northern Echo (Darlington), Telegraph & Argus (Bradford), Southern Daily Echo (Southampton), Swindon Advertiser, Lancashire Telegraph (Blackburn) The Argus (Brighton), The Press (York), Oxford Mail, Worcester News and South Wales Argus (Newport).

Johnston has already started running Two’s Company ads in its newspapers and linking to the online service through its websites.

“JP readers have already been making contact with Newsquest’s own Two’s Company members” said Barry Lester, head of Newsquest phone and dating activities, “Indeed some have already been out on dates with each other.”
