Industry charity, NewstrAid, has announced that they will be extending their Cost of Living Crisis Fund and have allocated a further £25,000 to support those from the newstrade who are struggling during the current economic crisis.
Launched just 4 months ago, the fund offers up to £250 per household and aims to help bridge the gap between income and costs for hundreds of people who are currently working or have previously worked in the sale or distribution of newspapers and magazines in the UK, says the organisation.
Neil Jagger, CEO for NewstrAid said: “We have been overwhelmed by the number of applications we have received for this fund over the last few months and our original allocation of £25,000 is being used up fast. We have therefore taken the decision to extend the fund by a further £25,000 to ensure we are able to help everyone who is struggling to cope during these difficult times.”
In addition to the Cost of Living Crisis Fund, NewstrAid says it has also provided its regular beneficiaries with a £100 Energy Bills Booster Grant this month to help them through the last few months of the winter.
Neil Jagger added: “We talk to people from the industry who are struggling to make ends meet every day and the current economic crisis is clearly taking its toll on many households. NewstrAid is here to provide support when times are really tough and the extension of our Cost of Living Crisis Fund and the Energy Bills Booster Grant is our response to what is evidently a growing need.”
