NFRN applauds Racing Post

The Racing Post has demonstrated that it is not prepared to gamble with newsagents’ support, says the NFRN, by announcing cover price rises for its weekday, Saturday and Sunday editions and maintaining the percentage margin that retailers receive.

From Monday March 10 the price of Monday to Friday editions will rise to £2.10, while the Saturday and Sunday papers will increase to £2.40. From the same date the Betting Shop Display will rise in price to £2.40, while the Racing Post Weekender price will move to £2.90 from Wednesday March 12. Again, newsagents will see pro-rata terms on both titles.

Finally, Racing and Football Outlook will increase to £2.10, with the retail percentage margin maintained.

NFRN National President Colin Fletcher said: “We are delighted that the publisher of the Racing Post is not prepared to gamble away the support of newsagents and is accompanying the forthcoming price rises with pro rata terms. It’s a dead cert that NFRN members will now back the publisher and give the Racing Post, Betting Shop Display and Racing Post Weekender the support they deserve.

“It is equally pleasing that stable-mate, the Racing and Football Outlook, has recognised the importance of maintaining retailer terms when upping the cover price. Again, I’m sure that NFRN members will give this title their full support.”
