Photography for Beginners wins Plain English Award

Photography for Beginners magazine’s accessible approach to teaching photography techniques has been recognised by the Plain English Campaign, with the Plain English award being presented in December 2013.

The award is given to any publication, organisation or individual who have genuinely made an effort to present themselves using clear and concise English. The award is testament, say the publishers, to its ability to communicate complex ideas in an effortless way.

“It’s a privilege to be selected for such a fantastic award and we will strive to continue our commitment to getting photography knowledge out there in a simple way to everyone,” said Editor Amy Squibb. “Our magazine is committed to teaching new tricks and techniques to those keen to improve their skills – photography should be for everyone, not just a select few who are in on the secrets.”

Editor-in-Chief, Dan Hutchinson commented, “Winning the Plain English Award is clear recognition that Photography for Beginners is delivering on its promise to provide photography enthusiasts with practical advice that’s accessible, informative and above all easily understood.”

Since its launch in 2011, Photography for Beginners, published by Imagine Publishing, has strived to keep things simple for readers, with in-depth guides to more complicated techniques, complete with step by step images and hands-on shots of the skill in action. From creative projects to mastering the mode dial, the magazine covers a broad range of topics to help you go from snapshots to great shots in no time.

“If you are one of those people who has never really got to grips with all the functions of your camera, this magazine is for you. These magazines give clear, simple explanations and instructions that even the most inexperienced photographer can follow. As you would expect, the illustrations are excellent and support the step-by-step instructions,” said Jennie Eley from the Plain English Campaign. “Although the title is ‘Photography for Beginners’ it is hard to believe even more seasoned photographers won’t find something of interest in these well written and designed publications.”
