Press Gazette goes digital only

The Press Gazette has announced that it will be ceasing publication of its print title, Press Gazette – Journalism Quarterly.

Editor Dominic Ponsford writes on the Press Gazette website: “Despite a strong reception for the first edition of Press Gazette - Journalism Quarterly - we have taken the decision to focus our efforts on digital publishing and a string of new events. So watch out for more details in the coming weeks about News on the Move - 2 (the UK's only journalism conference focusing on iPads and mobile), as well as new events focusing on media law and digital publishing. Subscribers should have been contacted by Customers Services by now, but for information about refunds call 0845 0739 607.

In common with other B2B titles in particular, we have increasingly found in recent years that readers want to access Press Gazette's news and analysis digitally. And more than ever before are doing so, with www.pressgazette.co.uk now attracting 150,000-plus unique users a month and 35,000 individuals following us on Twitter. While the production of a quarterly journal made great sense journalistically, the commercial case did not pan out as well as we had hoped. And with the Press Gazette editorial team now producing a weekly digital magazine, daily newsletter, rolling news website and iPhone/tablet app - we now plan to focus editorial resources on developing these growing outlets.”
