SciFiNow reveals four collector’s edition covers for The Hobbit

Imagine Publishing’s sci-fi, fantasy and horror magazine unleashes an exclusive four-cover split run for The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug.

Imagine Publishing has announced the release of SciFiNow issue 88, with a exclusive split run of four collectable covers for The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, the second part of Peter Jackson’s epic prequel to The Lord Of The Rings.

SciFiNow issue 88 is available with four covers showing Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), Gandalf the Grey (Sir Ian McKellen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), and each one has been given a treatment unique to the world their character inhabits.

“The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug is one of the year’s most anticipated films,” said James Hoare, Editor of SciFiNow. “The incredible ensemble cast of fan-favourite characters cried out for something truly special. From the creepy Mirkwood of Bilbo’s cover to the luxurious gold of Legolas, SciFiNow really has proven that there’s one magazine to rule them all.”

“It was an amazing opportunity as a designer to be able to craft such a unique treatment for this split run,” said SciFiNow Art Editor Stephen Williams. “We looked closely at the whole array of characters across this iconic saga and worked to conceive a unique and impactful look that made each cover a striking event all in itself.”

SciFiNow issue 88 includes behind the scenes interviews from The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug with stars Martin Freeman, Orlando Bloom, Lee Pace, Richard Armitage and Luke Evans, as well as a guide to the most infamous villains in fantasy films and TV, from Harry Potter to Game Of Thrones.
