Telegraph announces dedicated Cruise Editor

Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has promoted Teresa Machan to the new position of Cruise Editor.

Previously editor of Special Reports, Teresa is the first dedicated Cruise Editor to be appointed by TMG.

Teresa will be working with The Telegraph’s cruise experts and leading feature writers to bring readers, what the paper claims will be “unrivalled cruise coverage” (ocean and river) in the Saturday and Sunday travel sections, ipad and Kindle editions, as well as on the Telegraph’s website.

The Telegraph’s dedicated travel supplements and website have enjoyed a record-breaking start to the year, with the supplements running to more pages than ever before (268 pages in January alone) and the travel website receiving over 13 million page views a month.

The Telegraph will continue to produce its popular 20-page monthly Cruise Style supplement aimed at cruising enthusiasts, and The Daily Telegraph will be publishing a special guide to first-time cruising in the newspaper’s Travel supplement this Saturday, 2nd February. The feature will address preconceptions about cruising and offer expert advice on finding the perfect cruise.

The Telegraph will also be running a series of live online cruise clinics (telegraph.co.uk/cruise), starting next Wednesday, with its experts on hand to answer readers’ questions, as well as increasing its focus on river cruise over the coming months.

Charles Starmer-Smith, Head of Travel, TMG said: “Following such a strong start to the year for Telegraph Travel across both print and online, I am delighted that Teresa will be taking on the newly-created position of Cruise Editor. It underlines the Telegraph’s commitment to being the home for cruise. With expert advice, news and unbiased reviews as well as inspirational features Telegraph Cruise will provide readers with all they need to know about choosing the right holiday for them.”
