Georgia Edkins: “The Times and The Sunday Times have an unrivalled reputation for serious, agenda-setting journalism, and to be joining their Scottish team as Deputy Editor is a real privilege.”

The Times and Sunday Times in Scotland has announced that Georgia Edkins will join the titles having built a wealth of experience at the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday over the past decade, both in Scotland and in London. She recently served as associate editor of the Mail on Sunday in Scotland, and as deputy news editor in London, where she ran the weekend and exclusives list for the Daily Mail.

Prior to this, Georgia spent two-and-a-half years as political editor of the Mail on Sunday – a period in which she broke the SNP campervan story that preceded the arrest of former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell.

She was subsequently named UK political journalist of the year at the 2024 UK Press Awards, and claimed reporter of the year, political journalist of the year and scoop of the year at the Scottish Press Awards.

Dale Miller, Scotland editor of The Times and The Sunday Times, said: “Georgia is one of the most formidable political journalists of her generation, and I'm delighted she's joining us.

“She will join the team with an extensive list of contacts, and an excellent grasp of the types of exclusives and investigations which are so crucial to our coverage for The Times and The Sunday Times. I'm excited about her complementing a strong team on the Scotland desk that includes Gordon Robertson, Carla Jenkins and myself.”

Georgia Edkins said: “The Times and The Sunday Times have an unrivalled reputation for serious, agenda-setting journalism, and to be joining their Scottish team as deputy editor is a real privilege. Scotland has rarely been a more compelling place to report from, and I can't wait to get stuck into the stories that matter to readers here. I'm looking forward to working alongside Dale and the rest of the team.”

Edkins will start in the role on Monday 6 July.
