BBC History Magazine launches on Kindle

BBC History Magazine is the first title from Immediate Media Co to launch on the Kindle device.

Starting with the February 2012 issue, on sale now, users in the UK, US and over 100 other countries worldwide will be able to download digital editions of the title on a monthly basis, at the same time as the print magazine reaches the newsstand.

The digital edition of BBC History Magazine offers users all of the content from the print publication, with features, reviews, news and history milestones optimised for reading on Amazon’s popular tablet, illustrated with images from the magazine.

Subscriptions are priced at £3.49 per month, and start with a 14-day free trial. Individual Kindle issues will be available to purchase for £3.99.

Andy Healy, Publisher of BBC History Magazine, commented: “I’m delighted with this launch. BBC History Magazine has a natural synergy with the Kindle and is already shooting up Amazon’s best-seller’s chart, proving it’s a popular choice.”

The Kindle edition of BBC History Magazine was created in-house by the Immediate Media Co Digital team, and is available on all devices that support the Kindle app.

The February issue of BBC History Magazine for the Kindle asks ten leading historians to consider the key debates surrounding Britain’s imperial story, explores homosexuality in the Second World War and reveals how Charles Dickens’s writing was influenced by the transport revolution.
