BMJ appoints two new Non-Executive Directors

Healthcare knowledge provider BMJ has announced the appointment of two new non-executive directors to the company’s board.

Sharmila Nebhrajani is the newly appointed Chair of the Human Tissue Authority and before that was the Chief Executive of the Association of Medical Research Charities, a role she held since 2011. Her previous career spanned media, science and business consulting and she was for 10 years Chief Operating Officer of the BBC’s Future Media and Technology division which launched the iPlayer.

Jill Ainscough is Chief Operating Officer of Ofcom, the independent regulator for the UK communications industries' which she joined in 2007. Prior to this she worked at the B2B telecommunications provider Easynet Group, ending her time there as UK Managing Director, prior to its sale to Sky.

BMJ Chairman Jay Lippincott comments: “We are blessed with an experienced and knowledgeable board, yet I have no doubt that both Jill and Sharmila will significantly enhance our discussions and decision-making. We are delighted that they have agreed to join us.”

Both appointments are effective immediately.
