Company to edit ‘social’ issue live from Google HQ

Company magazine is relocating to Google’s London headquarters to produce its January 2014 ‘social’ issue.

In what the publishers describe as a “first for the industry”, Company will be given exclusive access to Google in the last week of October. A pop up office will play host to the entire editorial team as they plan, write, design and record all elements of the magazine and the website content.

To kick-start the editorial process, the editorial meeting will be held live via a Google Hangout on 24th October @ 7pm where readers will be welcome to pitch ideas. Further Google Hangouts will take place throughout the week with Company contributors. Haul videos will be recorded with high profile You Tubers and fashion shoots will take place throughout the week.

Every day, Company.co.uk will be bringing its readers edited highlights and exclusive behind-the-scenes action of the team’s time at Google’s cutting-edge office.

“Company isn’t adverse to ground-breaking initiatives, but this is one of the most ambitious projects we’ve ever undertaken,” said Victoria White, Editor of Company. “Not only will the January 2014 issue be our first ‘social’ edition, it will be the first time we, or any magazine, has edited live from Google HQ.”

“We're very excited to welcome the Company team into our London office to edit their Social Issue,” said Stephen Rosenthal, Google's PR and Communications Manager.

“Social media continues to explode. We see this first-hand, from the 100m hours of YouTube videos uploaded every minute, to the billions of Google+ posts we're seeing every day. Company are known for being trail-blazers, and the Social Issue is another industry-leading concept. Company's Social Issue is a very exciting project, and we're delighted to be a part of it."

“Our ‘social’ issue will build on Company’s reputation for connecting and engaging our audience with compelling content, but in a totally unique way,” said Nadia Dawson, Publisher of Company. “Google has huge synergy with the socially-savvy Company reader and we can’t wait to bring this dynamic issue to the newsstand.”

The January issue of Company is on sale 11th December.
