FT News Briefing introduces Saturday edition

FT News Briefing, the daily podcast from the Financial Times, has introduced a new weekend edition ahead of the US presidential election.

FT News Briefing introduces Saturday edition
Marc Filippino: “Whatever your questions about the US election, we’re here to answer them.”

The new show, Swamp Notes, based on the Financial Times’ twice-weekly newsletter by the same name, will focus on the intersection of money and power in US politics, added the publisher.

The FT says the Swamp Notes podcast will explore the biggest themes driving US politics and the race for the White House. Presented by host and producer Marc Filippino, the show will feature the FT’s global business columnist and associate editor Rana Foroohar and US national editor and columnist Ed Luce. FT journalists and editors, including chief economics commentator Martin Wolf and Washington bureau chief James Politi, will also make guest appearances.

“How will the election affect interest rates and who controls the money behind campaigns?”, said Filippino. “Whatever your questions about the US election, we’re here to answer them.”

The first episode will feature the FT’s US managing editor Peter Spiegel, and US political correspondent and deputy Washington bureau chief Lauren Fedor, to discuss the Republican primaries and whether the field candidates did anything to dent Donald Trump's robust lead.

Swamp Notes drops weekly on Saturdays, starting 27 January, and is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
