Future launches its first iBooks 2 release

Future Publishing has just announced the launch of its first fully interactive ebook on Apple’s iBooks 2 platform.

From the team behind Tap! and MacFormat, the new ebook is called GarageBand for Beginners and leverages Apple’s new iBook 2 Author technology, with a raft of innovative new ways for readers to consume content. In testament to the strength of the product, says Future, GarageBand for Beginners has been available to download for just one day, and is already the top listed book against an app store search for GarageBand, and ranked at number 2 in Apple’s iBooks Computing chart!

Future claims to be the first magazine publisher to truly embrace this new content platform with an ebook that delivers a rich, interactive consumer experience. With engaging video on every page and useful interactive images, the ebook guides users through the content in a step-by-step manner, which creates a practical viewing experience for the user.

GarageBand for Beginners has been carefully designed to make the most of the interactive features available on iBooks 2. The product is priced at just 99p and contains everything you need to know about using GarageBand, a music-making app from Apple which allows users to create their own music in a quick and easy way.

Ian Robson, Future’s Technology Publisher says: “Our consumers demand the richest possible media experience from our products and with GarageBand for Beginners we’ve once again delivered. The Apple iBooks 2 platform offers us the ability to deliver a slick consumer experience with integrated video content, animated annotated screenshots and much more. We’re proud to be the first publisher to fully embrace the new platform and its interactive features.”
