Future to launch new weekly digital magazine

Future, the international specialist media group, is to launch a new, digital magazine called Photography Week.

On sale in September, Photography Week will be a weekly, Tablet-only, international photography magazine available on the iPad and packed with rich, interactive content that shows readers how to improve their images and get more from their cameras.

Future’s current stable of photography magazines already enjoy huge success on the Apple Newsstand, says the company. Digital Camera World is the best-selling digital photography magazine for iPad (Jan-Dec 2011 ABC), and with Canon-only title PhotoPlus, and recent launches N-Photo: The Nikon Magazine and Practical Photoshop, these four magazines’ iPad editions boast more than 1.3 million container app downloads.

Following on from this success, Photography Week has been built specifically for the iPad by the team behind Digital Camera World, using Future’s digital publishing software, Future Folio. This will enable Photography Week to have the kind of interactivity and functionality not yet seen in any weekly photography title, says Future.

Photography Week is aimed at enthusiastic photographers all over the world regardless of their skill level. A truly international title, it will showcase the best international photography, feature tips and interviews with pro photographers from every continent, and offer a global audience the chance to get their images in the magazine every week.

Matthew Pierce, Group Publisher for Future’s Creative portfolio, says: “Photography Week is a major digital launch from Future, and a completely new kind of photography magazine. Future’s existing photography portfolio is already enjoying great success on the iPad, but a weekly digital title in this sector is a logical next step for us.

“Innovative, interactive and truly international, Photography Week has been developed from the ground-up for the iPad by the team behind the award-winning Digital Camera World and aims to help any photographer improve their images.

“Every issue will be packed with tips, advice, videos, reviews, the world’s best photography, and loads of ways for readers to get involved. It will be fun to read, simple to navigate, and use Apple’s amazing Tablet to best effect.”

Photography Week will debut in mid-September, when a full free issue will be available for download from the AppStore. Visit www.facebook.com/photographyweek for more information.
