Harper’s Bazaar appoints Sacha Bonsor to new role

Harper’s Bazaar, the luxury fashion magazine published by Hearst Magazines UK, has appointed Sacha Bonsor as Digital and Development Editor.

Sacha (pictured), currently Editor of The Times’ high end monthly fashion and lifestyle magazine, LUXX, joins Harper’s Bazaar in the newly created role on March 18. She will play an integral part in developing the brand’s production of content across all Bazaar platforms.

As a senior member of the Harper’s Bazaar editorial team, Sacha will support Bazaar’s Editor-in-Chief, Justine Picardie, with editorial strategy, planning and implementation. She will also work closely with the ad sales teams to develop multi-platform partnership proposals.

Sacha, who has worked for the Times in a variety of senior roles, is among a number of new high profile additions to the Harper’s Bazaar team since Justine Picardie was appointed Editor-In-Chief in August last year. Other appointments include award-winning Creative Director, Marissa Bourke; Associate Editor, Sara Parker-Bowles; Fashion Features Director, Avril Mair; Senior Editor, Hannah Rothschild and Global Fashion Director, Carine Roitfeld, whose first story ran in the March 2013 issue. Last month, Harper’s Bazaar announced the appointment of one of the country’s most respected editors, Sasha Slater, as its new Deputy Editor.

Sacha Bonsor has extensive experience as an editor, journalist and digital strategist. She began her career in broadcast journalism at the BBC before moving to New York where she worked for several years. When she returned to the UK in 2003, she enjoyed a successful freelance career, including a column with the Telegraph, before joining the Times in 2005 as a writer and commissioning editor. She moved to the Mail On Sunday as a staff writer, before returning to the Times in 2008 as Deputy Editor of Times2. She was made Editor of LUXX in September 2011, and transformed the quarterly print magazine into a monthly supplement across all platforms. This included launching Luxx Shop - which quickly became one of the most popular pages within the Times app, and developing a pioneering tablet edition. She also developed the digital editorial and commercial strategy for fashion, luxury and commerce across all News International titles.

Harper’s Bazaar Editor-In-Chief, Justine Picardie, says: “We have made a number of strategic appointments at Bazaar over the past few months that position the brand for increased growth and success. Sacha’s role is vital to Bazaar as we develop a strong multi-platform proposition for the brand.”

Sacha Bonsor says: "I am delighted to be joining Justine and her team. The digital future is full of opportunity, and I look forward to working with the Bazaar team to deliver the best in fashion journalism to an exciting and ever growing audience."
