Information Industry Network (IIN) formed in UK

The US-based Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) today announced the formation of a new UK-based organisation, the Information Industry Network (IIN) to support the broad media, publishing and information services industry in Europe.

After an extensive search, SIIA selected Patrick Angell, formerly with NLA Media Access, as Executive Director to lead IIN effective March 2014. Patrick is a well-recognised leader in the media and information services industry and has over the past fifteen years held senior management positions in leading organizations in the sector, such as EMAP (now Top Right Group) and Wolters Kluwer. IIN has been operating since the spring of 2013, and has held monthly issue briefs and staged the Digital Content & Media Summit in London under the leadership of Carolyn Morgan, founder of the Specialist Media Show.

“The media, publishing and information industry is undergoing the most complete transformation in a century,” said SIIA President Ken Wasch, “We’ve launched IIN to support the industry in Europe with conferences, research reports, networking forums, and opportunities for private equity capital. This is the first effort that will closely tie the media industry in Europe to the broad industry in the US and elsewhere.”

IIN will hold its second major conference, The Digital Media Innovation Conference, on April 7-8, 2014, at One Wimpole Street in London.

“A plethora of business models have emerged within the information industry as publishers, data and intelligence providers navigate the changing digital landscape,” said Angell. “I am delighted to be joining SIIA in these transitional times, and look forward to leading the IIN by providing support, knowledge-sharing, best practices and international connections for European-based media businesses.”
