Launch: Modern Farmer

Modern Farmer, a new quarterly title from Modern Farmer Media, goes o sale 4 July, priced £5.95.

According to distributors COMAG: Aimed at the growing number of people who want to know the provenance of the food they eat, this new magazine will have something for everyone interested in the subject.

Whether it is growing herbs or plants in window boxes and kitchen gardens, all the way up to large-scale food production, consumers increasingly want to know that the food they consume is not only safe to eat, but is environmentally sustainable and has been ethically sourced.

With recent scandals about horsemeat in the supply chain and the affects of climate change on a growing global population, food security and food poverty have never been such hot topics.

Answering these concerns and more, Modern Farmer is a new quarterly magazine that will address these issues, give guidance to readers looking to grow their own food and provide the latest news and product information about a range of contemporary farming topics.

Issue No.1 of Modern Farmer will have articles about the rise of organic farming in China, the growth of the global wild boar populations, as well as an in-depth piece on the state of humane slaughter around the world and a feature on the affects of monsoon season on India’s farmers.

Other features in the launch issue of Modern Farmer include the workings of the seed economy and how the Malawi mango trade is tied in with the popularity of McDonald’s smoothies!

Elsewhere, the UK launch issue of Modern Farmer will have five fantastic stays for people wanting to holiday on a farm,  while the first of the magazine’s  regular ‘how to’ features cover growing the ingredients to make a cocktail, building a backyard farm and starting a seed bank

Providing food for thought about all subjects of food production, Modern Farmer is a fresh new magazine for anyone interested in living by the maxim - ‘farm, food, life’.
