MNA launches website for its new recruitment agency

After breaking new ground by becoming the first regional news company to launch a recruitment agency, the Midland News Association (MNA) has teamed up with HotLizard to launch a digital offering for the business.

The MNA has built upon more than a century of local recruitment experience by establishing Star Employment Services, an agency with dedicated shop premises at the company’s Wolverhampton headquarters.

Star Employment Services says it is committed to placing high calibre temporary and permanent staff with local employers, offering a stringent recruitment process to place staff with businesses across the West Midlands.

Star Employment Services opened on January 2.

Ensuring a professional and flexible online presence that would build on the re-launch of both Expressandstar.com and Shropshirestar.com, the website of MNA sister title the Shropshire Star, the MNA chose to further cement their relationship with HotLizard, experts in online solutions for the recruitment industry, through the launch of www.staremploymentservices.co.uk.

The Star Employment Services site is based on the Gecko recruitment website platform, which enabled HotLizard to deliver a solution to a tight deadline which offered the flexibility to adhere to the MNA’s branding guidelines.

Through ongoing and open communication between the HotLizard design team and MNA’s brand and communications team, it was possible to deliver additional graphics that ensured brand consistency, says HotLizard.

The Gecko recruitment website also includes a range of features that have been designed to convey the Star Employment Services ethos of ‘Working Together’ including jobs by email, news, events, testimonials and a candidate secure log-in area.

These further features will enable the website to become a hub of local recruitment information.

Since launch, the new site has acted as an important marketing asset to Star Employment Services for brand communications and as a tool to generate new business enquiries and ultimately provide additional revenue streams.

Manager Mike Clare from Star Employment Services commented: “The early success of Star Employment Services has been helped by the launch of a high quality, professional website through our partnership with HotLizard.

“The MNA brands are trusted throughout Shropshire and the West Midlands so we needed to partner with an online company which could meet our customers’ expectations, which meant HotLizard were a neat fit.

“With HotLizard as our partners, we are certain we can establish a successful new business which will meet the MNA’s aims of establishing new revenue opportunities to complement the core publishing.”

Project Manager Sarah Fielding from HotLizard Ltd commented: “Star Employment approached Hotlizard after the successful release of the two MNA job boards, jobs.expressandstar.com and jobs.shropshirestar.com.  We worked closely with the Star Employment team to provide them with a website template that suited their market and branding whilst working towards their budget and to a very tight deadline.  The length of the project from sign off to go live was 12 working days (with the Christmas break in-between) and I put this down to the excellent communication and understanding between HotLizard and all the team at Star Employment’.

HotLizard has been delivering award-winning sites for over 12 years, from Recruitment Websites and Job Board Software products, through to its unique bespoke design and development services.”
