New editor for Sevenoaks Chronicle

Gabriel Shepard has been appointed Editor of the Sevenoaks Chronicle.

Gabriel (pictured) replaces Roger Kasper who last week took over as Editor of the Kent and Sussex Courier and is Senior Editor of Courier Media Group.

Gabriel joined the Courier as a Trainee Reporter in 2005 and became a Chief Reporter before re-launching and editing the Focus free newspaper, distributed in Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and Sussex.

In 2009 he was appointed News Editor of the Courier and carried on that role when he moved to the Croydon Advertiser in July 2011.

Gabriel, who takes over his new post on April 22, said: “I’m delighted to be returning to West Kent and look forward to continuing the Chronicle’s impressive track record of campaigning community journalism.

“Over the past four years Roger and his team have cemented the Chronicle’s place in the thick of Sevenoaks life. I am determined to make sure this is where it stays both in print and, increasingly, online.”

Richard Karn, Managing Director, South East: “Gabriel has played a key role in modernising the Croydon Advertiser alongside thisiscroydontoday to create a powerful multimedia portfolio. This experience makes him the ideal candidate to take the Editors chair for the Sevenoaks Chronicle.”

The search for a successor to Gabriel in the role of News Editor of the Croydon Advertiser is underway.
