The souvenir episode appeared in Friday's paper and online, featuring Geordie icons Cheryl Cole, Alan Shearer and Ant and Dec.
In the story - The Chronicles of Tynanwia - two blokes in a pub are transported to a magical kingdom where everyone gets their Chronicle news through a tablet.
Tyneside-born Alex said the cartoon fulfilled his ambition to feature in his local newspaper.
He said: “A cartoon in the Chronicle is another thing I can strike off my ‘things to do before you die’ list.”
The iPad edition launch is also supported by a TV ad and a series of editorial stories, including a search for the oldest and youngest readers.
