PPA on the hunt for stand-out magazine retailers

The Professional Publishers Association (PPA) is giving away free racking in its latest initiative to help drive magazine sales among independent retailers.

The Fixture Freebie competition will give independent retailers that are looking to increase their magazine display space the chance to win a free linear metre of racking. At least 40 winning stores will benefit from the offer, which is also being supported by distributors and wholesalers.

To enter, retailers simply have to provide details of how they are planning to increase the space dedicated to magazines and the range of titles available in-store. Recommendations from external sources, such as wholesalers, can separately provide endorsement of a retailer’s approach to magazine retailing.

Amy Scott (pictured), Head of Circulation at the PPA, said: “The PPA is committed to supporting independent retailers and encouraging activities that drive magazine sales.  With the successes of the long-standing Just Ask campaign and the recent Summer 2012 POS offer, we’ve now started the search for stand-out independent magazine retailers who can use this competition to take their magazine sales to the next level.”

Full details on how to enter the competition are available on the PPA Retail channel of the PPA website at www.ppa.co.uk/retail. Entry forms can also be requested from Amy Scott, Head of Circulation at the PPA, who can be contacted at retail@ppa.co.uk or at PPA, Queens House, 28 Kingsway, London, WC2B 6JR. The deadline for receipt of entries is 31 October 2012.

The Fixture Freebie competition is the latest PPA initiative focused on supporting magazine sales among independent retailers. Earlier this year the PPA announced plans to trial an in-store magazine subscription offer exclusively through independents then in June began distributing special PoS packs to a range of retailers around the country as part of its Explore the World of Mags summer 2012 promotion.
