Telegraph announces new appointments to its Olympics team

Telegraph Media Group has announced the appointments of Olympic greats Edwin Moses and Steve Cram MBE in the role of columnists.

Moses and Cram, who will each write regular columns, join an award-winning team at The Telegraph which boasts 35 Olympic and Paralympic gold medals between them. It includes Sir Steve Redgrave, Sir Chris Hoy, Ben Ainslie, James Cracknell, Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson and Denise Lewis.

The Telegraph’s continued support and commitment to world-class coverage of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will be further enhanced by the appointment of Paul Kelso, currently Chief Sports Reporter, to the additional role of Chief Olympics Correspondent. Andrew Fifield is appointed Olympics Planning Editor, coordinating features, planning supplements, and in-games coverage so the Telegraph can deliver the best reporting of the London 2012 Games. They will both report to Ben Clissitt, Head of Sport, TMG.

American Edwin Moses is a double Olympic 400m hurdle champion having won a Gold Medal at both the Montreal 1976 and Los Angeles 1984 Games. Moses is best known for amassing an unprecedented sequence of 107 finals unbeaten between 1977 and 1987 and for breaking the world record four times.

Steve Cram is a World, Olympic, European and Commonwealth medallist as well as three-time World Record holder during his career as a middle distance runner. Cram won a Silver Medal in the Los Angeles 1984 Olympics for the 1500m. He has been recognised for his achievements by winning the BBC Sports Personality of the year in 1983, and receiving an MBE in 1986.

Ben Clissitt, Head of Sport, Telegraph Media Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome Edwin Moses and Steve Cram as they join Team Telegraph. They will all bring a huge amount of insight and experience to our editorial coverage of the London 2012 Games. The Telegraph was instrumental in launching London's bid for these games and we are determined to provide the best coverage in print and online. The editorial project to cover the two games is the biggest that the organisation has undertaken and these signings will help us continue to provide our readers with the insight and knowledge that can only be conveyed by those who have competed at the highest level."
