Telegraph to launch new apps for iPhone and Android

Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has announced that it will be launching new mobile apps for iPhone and Android in the coming weeks.

The apps will offer the same functionality in both the iPhone and Android versions and will feature the Telegraph’s “award-winning” journalism as well as breaking news, a customisable homepage, Premier League goals from ESPN, picture galleries and video, sharing capabilities, live financial data and offline browsing.

Telegraph print and iPad subscribers will be able to access the apps free of charge. New customers will be offered a free one-month trial when they register with the Telegraph, with a monthly charge thereafter. As a further benefit, registered subscribers to the mobile apps will get access to the content on two devices, meaning they can share the app with a friend or partner for no additional cost.

The app will also be available for purchase directly through iTunes, via their auto-renewable subscriptions service.

The deal with ESPN will see video footage of all Premier League goals streamed into the app. There will also be a live match centre with football scores, results, tables and fixtures.

Edward Roussel, Executive Editor, Digital, Telegraph Media Group said: “The launch of these two new apps is a significant step forward in our strategy of delivering our award-winning journalism on all the key digital devices.  The apps have been designed to also give readers attractive new features including Premier League video and stats, a customisable homepage and offline reading at the touch of a fingertip.”

Graham Horner, Marketing Director, Telegraph Media Group said: “Following the successful introduction of our iPad edition last year, we are delighted to be offering our print and iPad subscribers even more value with the addition of The Telegraph mobile apps to our digital portfolio.  For new customers, we offer a choice of purchase routes, either directly with us or, for our iPhone users, via iTunes’ auto-renewing subscription service.”

The launch date for The Telegraph mobile app will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
